Fourth Of July 2017: 'Not On The 4th' In Dumfries

DUMFRIES, VA — When is a Fourth Of July celebration not a Fourth of July celebration? The answer no doubt easily comes to mind for a lot of folks in Northern Virginia. We're talking about the "Not on the 4th" fireworks show set for June 24 at the iconic Tim's Rivershore Restaurant and Crabhouse, 1510 Cherry Hill Road.

Each year, the restaurant holds its own brand of a Fourth of July Celebration the weekend before the actual holiday. It's an all-day party on the Potomac River. Dozens of boats dot the immediate area of the establishment. It's a family friendly day that also has elements of celebration that would make Jimmy Buffet proud.

Too, the fireworks show is quite the unique experience. It's launched from a barge in the Potomac. Whether sitting on the decks or the docks, relaxing in your boat or simply plopped down in the sand, it's a spectacle to behold.

Our location can be quite crowded for this event, and multiple shuttle buses will be running from Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School (Location & Directions).
