Friend Helps Mother Find Abducted Son In Woodbridge: Police

A woman drove off with a family member's 7-year-old son Saturday in Woodbridge before being caught with help from a family friend.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A woman drove off with a family member's 7-year-old son late Saturday afternoon from the 2700 block of Penbury Court, was followed for a while by a friend of the mother and then finally was stopped by police in the area of Jefferson Davis Highway and Cardinal Drive, according to Prince William County Police.

Valerie Ann Clupka, 41, of the 2700 block of Penbury Court, was arrested and charged with abduction and domestic assault and battery.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police went to the apartment for a reported abduction. The boy's mother said she and Clupka were involved in an argument that escalated, after which Clupka grabbed the child and left the home in a vehicle. A friend of the mother followed Clupka and was able to give police updates on her location, and that led to her arrest.
