Gar-Field Beats Langely High, 59-56
Gar-field knocks down key free throws in 4th quarter and plays solid defense for win.
Langley and Gar-Field went back and forth all night, but in the end it was a pair of free throws that decided the game.
Gar-Field's Curtis Einsmann hit two clutch free throws with 37.6 seconds left in the game to give the Indians a 57-56 lead. After getting a stop, two more free throws sealed the win in Langley's tipoff tournament.
The Indians took a 19-15 lead into the second quarter, but Langley started the quarter on a 9-4 run to take a 24-23 lead with 5:48 left in the half.
Gar-Field wrested the lead back from Langley, and the Indians led 35-31 at halftime.
The see-saw action continued in the third quarter, which belonged to the Saxons. Daniel Dixon found the outside touch, as he gave Langley a five-point lead heading into the final quarter.
In a game that saw 10 lead changes, the biggest one, of course, came right at the end.
Einsmann led all scorers with 23 points.
Gar-Field will take on Hayfield in the tipoff tournament on Saturday. Host Langley will play Hylton.
