Go Paperless on VRE? There's New App for That: Media Report

Commuters who ride the Virginia Railway Express will be able to download a new app Friday that will allow them to buy and validate their tickets on their smartphones.

Initially, the app will be available only on iPhones and Android devices, according to radio station WTOP.

The CEO of the company that developed the app told WTOP that his firm plans to add more features in the future, such as other transit options in the Washington region. Eventually, he said, the app could tell riders how full the VRE station parking lots are in the morning.
