Ground Broken On New Woodbridge Area School As Construction Continues
A not-yet-named school in the Woodbridge area had a groundbreaking with school and county officials.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — While construction is already underway for a new elementary school coming to the Woodbridge area, an official groundbreaking was held Thursday.
The not-yet-named school will be located at the corner of Route 1 and Prince William Parkway in Woodbridge near Fred Lynn Middle School. It is expected to open in the 2025-26 school year. Moseley Architects designed the school, and V.F. Pavone Construction is the construction contractor.
"This is the first new elementary school that we've had in the Woodbridge area in many, many years," said Kim Werle, PWCS associate superintendent for eastern elementary schools. "I look at it as being a really exciting time of growth, an opportunity for our students, a promise of helping them fufill a thriving future for themselves."

Prince William County Public Schools and county government officials were present at the groundbreaking. As Inside Nova reported, School Board Chiar Dr. Babur Lateef said the new school will help alleviate overcrowding issues.
"There is no doubt that equitable access to new, state-of-the-art facilities positively impacts a school’s climate and culture," said PWCS Superintendent LaTanya McDade. "Prince William County Public Schools is committed to providing safe and welcoming facilities for students, families, staff and the community, and this new facility is one example of this commitment."

A school naming committee will provide name suggestions to the Prince William County School Board before the school opens.
