High Man Drops Child, Walks Away In Woodbridge: Police
A man was arrested after causing an injury to his 4-year-old child while under the influence of drugs and then walking away: PWC Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A man was arrested Saturday after causing an injury to his 4-year-old child while under the influence of drugs and then abandoning the child while running from authorities in the 2200 block of York Drive, according to Prince William County Police. Donte Iraj Hawkins, 29, of t he 14900 block of Potomac Heights Place in Woodbridge, was charged with felony child neglect and intoxication in public.
Shortly before 5 p.m., police responded to the Kensington Place apartment complex for a reported suspicious person. They found Hawkins acting erratically and "under the influence of an unknown narcotic." When police tried to detain him, he ran away before being caught after a brief chase.
Further investigation found that he had been holding his 4-year-old outside while he was intoxicated and then dropped the child, who suffered minor injuries. Hawkins then walked away, leaving the child on the ground. A resident found the child, and an acquaintance of Hawkins arrived to take custody.
