How to Shop at IKEA Woodbridge
4 things you need to know to navigate the area's top shopping destination at Potomac Mills.
Many retailers would love to have customers spend hours snaking through their showroom. They’d love to have customers brag about a do-it-yourself coffee table like it was an heirloom. IKEA has perfected the art of pleasant shopping.
The furniture store opened its second U.S. site at Potomac Mills Mall in 1986. In 2001, the store opened a standalone location across the parking lot.
IKEA is routinely filled with shoppers looking for modern furniture and signature DIY ideas.

Here’s four things you need to know before you head out to shop.
Grab a Family Card First. The Family Card kiosk is at the front door. There’s discounts for members, but there’s also free coffee and tea in the cafeteria and more time for the kids in the play area. Save time, join now.

Drop the Kids Off. Don’t feel like you need to bring the kids along for office furniture shopping and strolling through closet fixtures. Look for the play area in the lobby. There’s another door to pick up your kids after you enjoy the showroom.
Grab a Pencil and a Map/Notepad. You will find great DIY items throughout the store. You will not find the boxes that you need without the bold code info at the bottom of the price tag. For the big items (entertainment centers, kitchen cabinets, etc.), you can print out the code details at a computer kiosk.
Grab Something to Eat. Try the food. There’s a large cafeteria at the end of the showrooms, and some fast food and treats downstairs behind the checkout line.
