On Monday, as you already know Christians all over the world celebrated the birth of Jesus. Many people may or may not know that we as Muslims don't celebrate Christmas. But do they really know why Muslims don't celebrate Christmas?
Muslims believe Jesus (peace be on him) was a Prophet of God and not a divine being. The Holy Qur’an states, “When the angels said, ‘O Mary, God gives thee glad tidings of a word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honored in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God" (3:46).
The Prophet Jesus (peace be on him) is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an 25 times. In fact he is mentioned more than the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Not only is Prophet Jesus (peace be on him) mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, but there is an entire chapter (19) of the Holy Qur’an named after the mother of Jesus, Mary (peace be on her). Thus, belief in Jesus (peace be on him) is part of faith of every Muslim.
