Kids Locked Outside For Hours With Mom Not Home in Woodbridge: Police

The mother of the three children returned home several hours later, according to Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Three children, all under 12, were locked out of their house in the 1400 block of Eisenhower Circle last Friday afternoon without adult supervision, and that led to the arrest of their mother on child neglect charges, according to Prince William County Police.

Katy Lynn Smith, 31, of the 1300 block of Eisenhower Circle, was charged with three counts of felony child neglect and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., police responded to the residence in investigation of a child neglect report and found the children, 11, 10 and 6, who had been locked out of the home for several hours,

Officers eventually made contact with the mother, who returned to the home later that night.

The children were released to the custody of a family member.
