Lottery Winner Nets $1 Million in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, VA—Luis Gomez Palma was thirsty, so stopped at a convenience store and bought a drink. He also bought a lottery ticket for the Virginia Lottery's "Extreme Millions" game. You can guess the rest.
That's right, the Woodbridge man bought a winner. "I could feel my heart beating so fast," he told lottery officials. He had choice of taking the full $1 million over 30 years or a one-time payment of $657,030 before taxes, and opted for the latter.
Palma bought the ticket in a 7-Eleven at 18075 Fraley Boulevard in Dumfries, so the store picked up a $10,000 bonus. His odds of winning were 1 in 2,937,600.
