Man Arrested, Accused Of Selling Drugs To Woodbridge Teen Who Died Of An Overdose: Police

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Police in Prince William County arrested a Woodbridge man who is accused of dealing counterfeit Percocet pills laced with fentanyl. Authorities claimed the man sold drugs to a 14-year-old boy who died of an overdose in Woodbridge last month.

Police identified the man as Latae’veion Naveiour Woods, a 21-year-old from Woodbridge. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic. His court date is pending.

The 14-year-old, who police have not named publicly, died less than 48 hours after a 15-year-old boy from Woodbridge died of an overdose. Authorities said counterfeit Percocet pills laced with fentanyl were responsible for both deaths. The police department has not determined where the 15-year-old acquired the drugs.

Investigators with the Prince William County Police Department identified Woods as a suspected distributor through an investigation with the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On Wednesday, DEA agents alongside police officers and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms searched Woods's home on Palm Road in Woodbridge. Authorities took Woods into custody.

During their search, officers found "a small quantity of suspected fentanyl pressed counterfeit Percocet pills, marijuana, two firearms, and items consistent with narcotics distribution," according to the police report. Authorities also determined that Woods sold the counterfeit pills to the 14-year-old who overdosed.

Woods was arrested and charged with one count of distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic. His bond is currently listed as "unavailable," according to the police department.
