Man Assaults Cops in Woodbridge: Police

He tried to flee on foot, after which he was caught and also charged with drug and weapon offenses: Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Dumfries man was arrested early Saturday morning in the 13400 block of Keating Drive after assaulting two officers trying to detain him for suspicion of marijuana use, according to Prince William County Police.

Dalonte Keith Greer, 24, of the 15600 block of Renton Count, was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of resisting arrest, one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of possession of a concealed weapon by a felon and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., police responded to the residence after receiving a noise complaint about a party and came in contact with Greer, on whom they detected an odor of marijuana.

They tried to retain him, he pulled away, pushed one of the officers and tried to flee the scene on foot.

Police caught up to him, after which he continued to be combative and kicked an officer before finally being arrested.
