Man Attacks Officers While Being Released In Woodbridge: Police
A man about to be let go on a summons for marijuana instead is being held without bond after assaulting two officers In Woodbridge: Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man about to be let go on a simple summons for marijuana possession instead is being held without bond after assaulting two officers Wednesday in the area of Old Bridge Road and Springwoods Drive in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Police. Derrick Hutchinson Sanders, 24, of the 6000 block of Phillip Court in Woodbrige, was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and one count of possession of marijuana.
Around 3:3- a.m., an officer on routine patrol spotted a traffic violation, pulled over the vehicle and then noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from it. The driver was detained and pot was found in the passenger compartment. While he was being released on the court summons, he inexplicably attacked them and immediately was arrested and taken to jail. No injuries were reported.
