Man Strangles Woman In Dumfries: Police

DUMFRIES, VA — A man is being held without bond after strangling a female acquaintance and taking her cell phone Tuesday in the 16600 block of Harwood Oaks Court in Dumfries, according to Prince William County Police. Gary Allen Anderson, 27, of the aforementioned address, was charged with strangulation, assault and battery and preventing the summoning of law enforcement.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., police went to the apartment for a reported assault. A 27-year-old Dumfries woman said she and Anderson were involved in an argument that escalated. He grabbed her around the neck and began to choke her. To prevent her from calling police, he then took her cell phone. They eventually separated and he left the residence before being arrested shortly thereafter.
