Man Strangles Woman In Woodbridge: Police

A man strangled an acquaintance and then took her phone to prevent her from calling for help Tuesday night in Woodbridge: PWC Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A man strangled an acquaintance and then took her phone to prevent her from calling for help Tuesday night in the 4400 block of Daisy Reid Avenue, according to Prince William County Police.

Devin Edward Thompson, 33, of the 4300 block of Mountain View Drive in Haymarket, eventually was detained and charged with strangulation, domestic assault & battery and preventing the summoning of a law enforcement officer.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., police responded to an apartment for a reported domestic assault. The woman, 33, said she and Thompson were involved in an argument that escalated. He grabbed her by the neck, choked her and took her phone so she couldn't call authorities.

She finally was able to flee the residence, after which she contacted police. Minor injuries were reported.
