MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY
Martin Luther King was an influential American civil rights leader, and a man who also wanted peace and equality, and as a result that is what he got after many protests, hate, and speeches, he got equality, he wanted everybody to live happy and safe, and to not be worried when African Americans walk out their houses just to get groceries to live. We have a day that we thank him on called Martin Luther King Jr. Day! The day celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. There is a memorial in Washington D.C. that celebrates him and his effects on this country today. Maybe without him, we would be having double the amount of racism that we still have today. He has a very famous quote that almost everybody from his speech called "I Have a Dream", I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. "
This relates to Islam because we want people to not judge us by our religion or just how we look like on the outside, but who we are. We as Ahmadiyya Muslims face racism and get criticized just because we were a scarf on our heads, speak a different language, where different clothing from other people, and where not the only ones who face this. A lot of other people do: Hispanics and African Americans sometimes face the same problem too. Though in reality, we are just like any good person, we donate to charity, treat people nicely, and pray for other people. So all I'm saying is, do not judge a book by its cover!
