Memorial Day 2023: What's Open, Closed Around Prince William County

Here's what residents across Prince William County and Manassas can expect for the Memorial Day holiday this year.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Memorial Day is a solemn day for many residents around Prince William County, as they take time to reflect and recognize members of the military who were killed in action. For others, it is a time to be grateful for time with family.

Across the county, there will be events for residents looking to honor the past and those looking to celebrate the present.

In Woodbridge, the 6th annual Woodbridge Beer Festival will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Stonebridge. The event includes dozens of breweries from around the region presenting their craft beers.

Here is a full list of different services and facilities to be aware of for Memorial Day:

  • Prince William County government offices: Closed on May 29.
  • Manassas City government offices: Closed on May 29.
  • Prince William County Courts: The Prince William County Criminal Court, Clerk of Circuit Court's Office, Civil Division, and Public Service Center will be closed on May 29.
  • Prince William County Public Schools: The school district is closed on May 29.
  • Prince William County Pools: Some pools operated by the county will be open over Memorial Day weekend. The WaterWorks water park will be open for Memorial Day, but SplashDown water park will not be open. A full list of Prince William County pools is available online.
  • Manassas City Public Schools: The school district is closed on May 29.
  • Manassas City Trash: Manassas City's trash pick-up is not affected by Memorial Day.
  • Department of Motor Vehicles: The state DMV offices are closed on May 29.
  • OmniRide: OmniRide buses will not operate on May 29.
  • Libraries: All libraries will be closed from Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29.
  • Metro: All WMATA services will operate on a Sunday holiday schedule for May 29. Trains will run from 7 a.m. to midnight.
  • Post offices: Closed on May 29.
  • Recreation centers: Closed on May 29.
  • Landfill: The Prince William County Landfill is open on Monday, May 29. They will have an altered schedule and operate from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Virginia Railway Express: VRE will not provide service on Monday, May 29.
  • Prince William County Animal Shelter: Closed on Monday, May 29.
