Mom, a mother but also the best Friend you could wish for.

The most affectionate and caring person you have in your life is your mother. Mothers are the best person you could ever hope for. She listens to your needs and does everything that she can. With a mother, anything is possible. Mother’s Day, is a day dedicated to the appreciation of motherly figures everywhere. But, what is the purpose behind this specific day?

History states that a young woman, Anna Jarvis, held memorials for her mother in what is now known as the Mother’s Day Shrine since 1908. It was President Woodrow Wilson who in 1914 dedicated the 2nd Sunday of May as Mother’s Day.

Mothers have very high status in Islam. The Holy Qur'an says, “Worship none but Him, and show kindness to parents, If one or both of them attain old age with thee, never say unto them any word expressive of disgust nor reproach them, but address them with excellent speech” (17: 24). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Paradise lies under the feet of mothers.”

As an Ahmadi Muslim girl, I believe that we should remember our mothers 365 days of the year. We should respect them because without them, we wouldn’t even be here! Care for your mother because she wants the best for you. They want to see the best in you because she knows who you are. When needed, she can play any role, whether it’s your best friend forever, or your…well… your mom! Sure, you can buy your mother gifts but treat her with respect because she always has room in her heart for you! I hope and pray that we have our full trust in our mothers for our entire life.
