Motorcycle Rider Killed In I-95 Crash Identified By Police

Authorities have identified the motorcycle rider who died on Wednesday after crashing into a VDOT vehicle on I-95 near Dale City.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Authorities have identified the motorcycle rider who died on Wednesday in a crash on I-95 near Dale City.

Virginia State Police officials identified the man as 30-year-old Victor Harper II of Dumfries. He died at the scene of the crash. Investigators said he was wearing a helmet.

An initial crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday on northbound I-95 at mile marker 155. A Virginia Department of Transportation Safety Services Patrol vehicle was stopped on the right shoulder with its emergency lights on, authorities said.

A sedan ran off the road and hit the back of the VDOT vehicle, police said.

"While conducting that investigation, a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling north on I-95 lost control, ran off the right side of the highway and struck the rear of the SSP vehicle," Virginia State Police officials said in a news release. "The motorcyclist died at the scene."
