Murders In Woodbridge, Dumfries Prompt Investigations: Police
Over the course of just six hours, Prince William County Police were called to two separate locations to investigate shootings.
WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County Police are investigating two separate homicides that occurred in the county in the last 24 hours. According to police, two men were killed in their homes in Woodbridge and Dumfries.
In Woodbridge, police responded to a residence located in the 1300 block of E Street just before 10 p.m. Monday to investigate a shooting. When they arrived, they found 45-year-old Stonnie Ray Chavis inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Six hours later, police were called to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Drive in Dumfries. When they arrived on scene, they found an adult man in the roadway, also suffering from gunshot wounds. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Detectives from the Prince William County Homicide Unit are currently investigating what led up to both shootings, though police said neither appears to be random. No arrests have been made.
