New Dominion Choraliers Bring You "The Wonders of Christmas..." This Holiday Season

The New Dominion Choraliers invite you to join them as they fill the holiday season with "The Wonders of Christmas...".

The New Dominion Choraliers of Prince William County invite you to join them as they fill the holiday season with “The Wonders of Christmas...”, at the Hylton Memorial Chapel and Event Center, 14640 Potomac Mills Road, Woodbridge, Virginia, on Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 P.M. and on Sunday, December 7, at 3:30 P.M. The Choraliers were voted the “Best Performing Arts Group” in Prince William County this year.

“We hope that the spirit, the beauty, and the magic of the holidays will resonate throughout the marvelous musical program that we’ll be presenting,” explained NDC Director, Katherine Nelson-Tracey. “There will be several beautiful songs, with glorious arrangements, that proclaim the spirit and the promise of Christmas,” she added. “You’ll hear a vibrant arrangement of ‘Angels From the Realms of Glory’ that brings fresh energy to this classic work, while ‘Baby Born in Bethlehem’ reminds us all of the humble nature of the nativity on that wondrous night.” Several other captivating compositions, such as ‘Shepherd, Play Your Pipes Tonight’, ‘March of the Kings’, and a splendid version of ‘It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’, will round out a musical portrayal of the first Christmas.

NDC President, Steve Hein, noted that “We’ll also be singing the lovely prayer for peace, ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’, which we believe expresses the dreams and aspirations of people everywhere for peace throughout the world.”

“And Holiday wonders also bring lots of fun, as well!” Hein added. “We’re excited to be presenting a rollicking arrangement of ‘Jolly Old Saint Nicholas’ with new words and music by Alan Billingsley, and an update of a big band sound with ‘Gettin’ in the Mood (for Christmas)’. You’ll also hear a delightfully jazzy song called ‘Shoulda Been a North Pole Elf’, along with a swing version of an old favorite, ‘Let It Snow’.”

The chorus will be debuting a new adaptation of “The First Noel”, composed by Dr. Brian Saunders, who hopes that his composition will inspire others with warmth and good feelings toward one another during the Christmas season. The bell-like qualities present within the arrangement were apparently influenced by the numerous pealing church bells in Albany, New York, where the piece was written in knee-deep snow.

Dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts, under the Artistic Direction of Ann Boyle, will again be joining the Choraliers on stage, as the dancers illustrate some of the ‘wonders of Christmas’ with their original choreography.

Tickets are available at the box office, and online through the NDC website, www.ndchoraliers.org. Tickets for Adults are $15; for Seniors (55+)/Students (14+)/Military/Veterans, tickets are $10; and for children ages 5 through 13, tickets are $5. Children 4 and younger are free.

Choraliers President Steve Hein also announced that NDC will continue its support of the charitable work of Trevor’s Treasures by collecting unwrapped toys and donations in the lobby at the concerts. “Trevor Blake,” he explained, “was a local boy who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of five. But instead of giving up, and giving in, he set himself a mission---to bring toys to other children who were also suffering from cancer.” Sadly, Trevor passed away at the age of eleven in 2013, but his family continues his mission through “Trevor’s Treasures”. You can learn more about Trevor and his mission at www.trevorstreasures.org.
