New Store Recycles Fashions for Teens, 20-Somethings (ICYMI)

A new clothing store that offers “gently used” items for teens and young adults celebrated its grand opening Thursday near Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge.

Plato’s Closet, at 13293 Worth Ave., buys and sells used, brand-name clothing and accessories, including shoes, belts, purses and jewelry. The new store is part of a national recycling retail chain, according to a statement from Winmark Corp., the retailer’s Minneapolis-based parent company.
Unlike a typical consignment store, no appointment will be necessary to sell clothing and accessories at Plato’s Closet. Plus, it pays cash on the spot for goods it purchases from consumers.

Typically, Plato’s Closet buys items that have been in retail stores within the past 12 to 18 months and are current styles seen in the mall. “We don’t try to create new fashion trends, we respond to actual trends in a timely and value-oriented manner,” said Ken Grifana, the local owner of the new Plato’s Closet, in the statement.
