Noodles and Co. Closing Several Area Restaurants

No specific sites named, but chain will cut 9 locations by the end of the year, including several in the D.C. area.

Noodles & Co. will be closing several D.C. area locations by the end of the year.

The company has already closed seven locations in Texas. Chief Finance Officer Dave Boennighausen told Restaurant News that nine more locations will close later this year, including several in the D.C. area.

The specific underperforming restaurants targeted for closure have not been released.

Northern Virginia has most of the Noodles & Co. locations in the D.C. area: 21, compared to 2 in the District and 10 in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland.

Boenninghausen said the Washington market has been challenging for the chain.

Noodles & Co. ended the quarter with 488 restaurants, including 424 company-owned and 64 franchised locations.
