Parents of Young Children Arrested for Child Neglect: Police

Three children, between 2 and 3, were left unsupervised outside their home while parents were sleeping upstairs in the middle of the day.

MANASSAS, VA โ€” The parents of three young children left unsupervised outside their home for at least an hour Sunday afternoon in the 15000 block of Jarrell Place were arrested the same day, according to Prince William County Police.

(Removed) was charged with three counts of felony child neglect.

Carl Slaughter, 22, was charged with the same.

Shortly after 12:20 p.m., police responded to a report that the three children between the ages of 2 and 3 were spotted in the front yard of their home with no supervision.

Police tried to make contact with the suspects at the front door but received no response, after which they entered the home and found the suspects asleep in an upstairs bedroom.

Unsafe conditions were found inside the home, and the children were released to a family member.

(Removed) and Slaughter are being held without bond.
