Police: Arrest in Woodbridge Shooting

Suspect drove up alongside victim and opened fire last week, according to Prince William County Police.

The suspect in a Sept. 9 shooting is in custody after nearly a week, according to Prince William County Police.

Alexis Alberto Martinez, 25, of the 14300 block of Chesterfield Road in Woodbridge, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Officers responded at 4:12 p.m. Sept. 9 to the 14300 block of Wrangler Lane regarding shots fired. Shell casings were found in the roadway, but no victim or suspect was at the scene.

Soon after, a 21-year-old Woodbridge man walked into an area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. The injury was not life threatening.

Investigators determined the victim was sitting in a car on Wrangler Lane when Martinez pulled up in another vehicle and opened fire, according to police.

Martinez was reportedly an acquaintance of the victim and the shooting stemmed from a previous incident, according to police.

Martinez is being held without bond.
