Police: Damage, Assault During Fraud Arrest

Suspect arrested at Best Buy, but not before he attempted to flee, according to Prince William County Police.

Doors were damaged and an officer was pushed during a fraud investigation Monday at a Woodbridge retailer, according to Prince William County Police.

Steven Hansen Ramirez-Lugo, 22, of 3 W. 192 St in Bronx, N.Y., is charged with assault & battery on a law enforcement officer, destruction of property, possession of false identification, providing false identification to law enforcement, obtaining goods by false pretenses and resisting arrest. He is being held without bond.

At 1:39 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the Best Buy at 2735 Prince William Parkway regarding fraud.

Employees told police that Ramirez-Lugo was attempting to open an account using fraudulent identification, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

“During the encounter, the accused attempted to flee the business on foot and, at one point, pushed one of the officers and continued out of the front doors,” Perok said in a statement.

No injuries were reported, but two sets of sliding glass doors were damaged as Ramirez-Lugo attempted to flee.
