Police: Hit-and-Run Driver Struck Woman and Child in Crosswalk
The suspect sped away from the scene, but was followed by an off-duty Fairfax officer, according to Prince William County Police.

A mother and her 2-year-old walking across the street when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday morning, according to Prince William County Police.
Lawrence Patrick Friason, 33, of 15114 Concord Dr. in Woodbridge, is chrage with felony hit & run, driving on a suspended license and additional vehicle offenses.
At 7:44 a.m. Tuesday, the 30-year-old woman and her child were crossing Dale Boulevard in the crosswalk and with a “walk” signal, when the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix turned right from Cloverdale Road and struck them, according to police.

After the collision, the driver, later identified as Friason, sped away from the scene. An off-duty Fairfax County police detective was able to follow him to the area of Cowes Mews and Cherrydale Road, where he was by Prince William County Police and detained.
The victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injures.
