Police: McDonald's Shooting Suspects in Custody

Manhunt ends with both individuals involved in custody, according to Prince William County Police.

Two suspects are now in custody, wanted in connection to the shooting at a Dale Boulevard McDonald’s on Monday evening.

DeWayne Williams, the alleged shooter, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was apprehended after an extensive search in the Montclair neighborhood, which included a request from police for residents to stay indoors.

Jamie Bowyer, who was allegedly with Williams at the time of the shooting, is also facing the same charges. She walked into a station and surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon.

At 6:49 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting at the McDonald’s at 2891 Dale Blvd.

The 23-year-old victim of Woodbridge had reportedly made arrangement to meet Bowyer in the parking lot. When he arrived Bowyer was with Williams, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

“During the encounter, Williams shot the victim in the face and both suspects fled the area,” Perok said in a release.

The victim went into the McDonald’s and police were contacted. The victim was flown to area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect’s vehicle was spotted by an officer on Neabsco Mills Road. Before the officer could stop the car, Williams, who is believed to have been alone by that point, drove into the Freedom High School parking lot and fled on foot.

He then allegedly carjacked the vehicle of a 26-year-old man from Triangle, who was forced to drive him away from the area. Williams got out of the car in the area of Jefferson Davis Highway and Delaware Drive and fled on foot.

After a door-to-door search with the assistance of a K-9 unit and helicopter, the effort was called off shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Prince William County Police on Facebook, a call from citizens prompted a search of the Montclair neighborhood early Tuesday afternoon. For several hours, police searched the area before announcing at 4:24 p.m. that Williams was in custody. Bowyer walked into a police station and surrendered to police an hour later.
