Police: Prisoner Escapes During Hospital Visit in Woodbridge

The woman was located after several hours on the run Friday, according to Prince William County Police.

A prisoner who escaped from Prince William County Police while visiting an area hospital early Friday was located Friday afternoon in Dumfries, according to Prince William County Police.

Theresa Elaine Brown, 24, of the 15500 block of Traverser Court in Woodbridge, was first arrested Thursday on several failure to appear and probation violation charges, according to police. She now faces a charge of escape from custody without force.

While in custody Friday, Brown complained of pain and she was transported to Sentara Regional Medical Center for evaluation, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

“While at the hospital, the suspect accessed a secure hallway from her room and was able to escape from the facility around 4:00 a.m.,” Perok noted in a statement. “No force was used in the escape and the suspect is not considered violent.

Brown was located Friday afternoon at the Dumfries Plaza Shopping Center.
