WOODBRIDGE, VA — Police are searching for a 26-year-old Woodbridge man who they say assaulted a woman in a Woodbridge residence on Monday and then fled, Prince William County police said Tuesday.

Javier E. Lopez is wanted on charges of abduction, assault and battery and preventing the summoning of police after police said that he and a 24-year-old woman were involved in an altercation at 3:21 p.m. Monday in the 2700 block of Patrick Henry Drive in Woodbridge.

The victim told police that she and Lopez began arguing before the incident escalated and Lopez began destroying items in the home, police said. When the victim attempted to call the police, Lopez found and broke the woman’s phone. When the woman attempted to leave and seek help, police said that Lopez grabbed her and dragged he to the back of the home before he left the residence.
