Police Seeking Alexandria Man For Assaulting Woodbridge Boy: Cops

Ian M. Simpson is wanted after police said he attempted to strangle an 8-year-old boy during after two arguments between the two relatives.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – Prince William County Police are searching for an Alexandria man that they say attempted to strangle an 8-year-old boy during a verbal altercation, police said on Wednesday.

Ian Malloy Simpson, 39, is wanted for strangulation and domestic assault and battery after police said he was involved in an assault that happened Sunday at a home in Woodbridge, police said. In the incident, an 8-year-old boy told police that he and a family member – later discovered to be Simpson – began to argue. Police said Wednesday that during the argument, Simpson grabbed the boy by his collar and lifted him up from a sitting position. Another family member broke up the argument and separated Simpson and the boy, police said.

Later in the day, the two got into another argument and Simpson grabbed the boy and slammed him to the floor and put his hands around the boy’s throat, police said. A family member was able to separate the two before Simpson left the house. The boy was reported to have minor injuries, police said.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Simpson, who remains at large as of Wednesday. Simpson is described as being 6-foot-4, weighing 200 pounds, having black hair, unshaven facial fair and several tattoos.
