Police: Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In
He allegedly shot a man who tried to intervene in a fight between the suspect and a young woman: Prince William County police.

A Dale City man who is facing multiple charges for a shooting early Sunday turned himself in the next day to the Prince William County police.

Jesse Rene Najera, 30, of the 15200 block of Crescent Street, was arrested Monday and charged with malicious wounding, strangulation, domestic assault and battery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a police report. His next date in court is pending.
Najera allegedly shot a 20-year-old Woodbridge man who tried to intervene in a fight early Sunday between Najera and a 22-year-old Woodbridge woman inside a vehicle, police said. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

During the argument, Najera assaulted and, at one point, strangled the woman, who is an acquaintance, police said. She sustained minor injuries in the assault.
Police responded at 2:01 a.m. Sunday to the shooting scene in the 15200 block of Crescent Street, but Najera fled before they arrived. Najera and the shooting victim did not know each other, police said.
