Police: Shoplifting Suspect Used Pepper Spray on Employee

Woman sought after she was identified in surveillance footage, according to Prince William County Police.

Prince William County Police is seeking the suspect in a shoplifting incident after she used pepper spray on a store employee, according to police.

Darnesha Michelle White, 29, of the 2700 block of Shipley Terrace is wanted on charges of strong armed robbery and assault and battery with caustic substance. She is described as black female, 5’8”, 140lbs with thin build, curly red and black collar length hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue shirt, blue jeans and black boots.

According to police, White allegedly concealed items in a bag while in the Saks 5th Avenue at Potomac Mills Mall on Dec. 23.

An employee followed White out into the parking lot and identified himself as a loss prevention employee, requesting that she return to the store.

The woman followed the employee to the doorway of the store, and then allegedly removed a can of pepper spray from her jacket and sprayed the employee in the face.

She reportedly fled the scene on foot, but without the loot

After spraying the employee, White fled the area on foot. Video surveillance led to police identifying White as the suspect.
