Postal Employee Shot In Woodbridge While Delivering Mail

Prince William County police and U.S. Postal Service inspectors are investigating the shooting of a mail carrier in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County police and U.S. Postal Service inspectors are investigating the shooting of a Postal Service employee in Woodbridge Monday afternoon who was delivering mail. The postal employee, who was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, is expected to survive.

Police officers arrived in the 3500 block of Buffalo Court in Woodbridge around 4:50 p.m. Monday to investigate the shooting. The USPS employee, a 28-year-old man, was delivering mail when an unknown man approached him and shot him in the lower body.

A police K-9 and helicopter with the Fairfax County Police Department responded to search the for the suspect who was not located.

The suspect is a Black male who is about 20 to 30 years old, the police said. He is about 6-feet tall, with a medium build, and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, no shoes, and a blue surgical mask, according to the Prince William County Police Department.
