Prince William County Coronavirus Update: 5,157 Cases, 101 Deaths

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – There are 83 new cases of the coronavirus in Prince William County as of Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 5,157.

Two additional deaths were reported Thursday by the Virginia Department of Health, bringing the total death count to 101. There are currently 439 hospitalized patients.

To date, the Prince William Health District has had 15 coronavirus outbreaks. There are 155 coronavirus cases associated with an outbreak, and 279 confirmed cases in healthcare workers.

As of Thursday, Virginia now has 41,401 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, 1,152 more cases in the past 24 hours. There are 4,442 hospitalized patients and 1,338 deaths.

• 20-29: 1,131 cases

SCHOOLS

All schools in Virginia are closed through the rest of the academic year for in-person teaching in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In-person high school graduations for Prince William County Public schools have been scheduled for August, school officials have announced. High schools principals have recommended graduation ceremony dates of Aug. 4, 5, 6 and 7. Specific dates and time will be decided in the next few weeks, school officials said. MORE

GOVERNMENT

Northern Virginia leaders say the region has met four of six criteria for the first phase of reopening, but did not request another delay in a letter to Gov. Ralph Northam. The potential reopening date for Northern Virginia, the city of Richmond and Accomack County is Friday, May 29; the rest of Virginia moved into phase one on May 15. MORE
