The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently commended the Virginia Stars 12U Softball Team for its impressive season ending with a 32-8-1 record that led to a national championship.

The team members listed below are led by head coach, Jessica Cassedy. She is a Prince William County native who led Stonewall Jackson High School to a Virginia State Championship in 2004, followed by a successful career at Marist College.

The Virginia Stars winning season took the team to the Youth Softball National Championship in Louisville, Ky., where they won with a final score of 15 to 7 to earn the title of National Champions.
In training winning and losing together, the team forged ahead to success by working together, setting goals, pushing themselves and their teammates to become a team with big dreams.
The Board’s commendation congratulated the team for “exhibiting outstanding teamwork and sportsmanship to become the Softball Youth 12U National Champions and wishes continued success to the team as they move up to the 14U division.”
