What You Should Know from the Prince William Health District:

Fully Vaccinated vs. Unvaccinated

If you are unsure about whether to get vaccinated, it is important to know that science is proving that the vaccines are safe, even compared to the percentage of those who have had a reaction. Only 1 in every 90,000 people will have an adverse reaction. You have a greater chance at getting COVID-19 than having an adverse reaction. Each and everyday reports from around the country and the world are sent into Health Departments to allow the science and the numbers to do the talking. In reviewing the rate of infections per 100,000 in Virginia, the data is clear when it comes to getting vaccinated and protecting yourself and your loved ones.

What does this mean? Between January 17, 2021, and August 28, 2021, unvaccinated people developed COVID-19 at a rate 9.2 times higher than fully vaccinated people and 2.5 times higher than partially vaccinated people. The vaccine is safe and effective, yes you can still get COVID-19 fully vaccinated, receive hospital care in rare cases, and unfortunately in very rare cases some have died. The numbers still prove that, fully vaccinated, the chances of your body fighting off COVID-19 is much greater than being unvaccinated. Read, educate, question fully vaccinated friends, family, community leaders, and ask your health care provider. Being fully vaccinated, wearing a mask when indoors, and washing your hands drastically protects you from COVID-19.

Protection From COVID-19: The CDC and VDH continue to recommend wearing your mask, washing your hands, social distancing, and avoiding large crowds as additional ways to continue to protect yourself from contracting COVID-19 and its variants.
