Robber Swipes Bank Deposit Bag in Potomac Mills Parking Lot

A Woodbridge man reported he was accosted while walking to his vehicle after hours, according to Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man carrying a large cash deposit bag was the victim of a robbery early Sunday morning at Potomac Mills mall. The heist came at the height of a busy tax-free weekend.

According to Prince William County police, a 35-year-old Woodbridge man reported he was approached from behind by an unknown man around midnight. The man, who police say "placed a metal object against the victim's head," took the bag and fled on foot.

The victim wasn't injured. A K-9 search failed to find the suspect.

Prince William County police spokesman Nathan Probus would not name the business from where the victim was coming, and wouldn't say how much money was stolen, adding only that it was "a large amount."

This incident appears to be completely different from, for example, another Potomac Mills parking-lot episode that included a brawl last April.
