Robbers Arrested After Returning To Scene In Dumfries: Police

Two men who recently robbed area businesses at gunpoint were busted while apparently casing another business in the same area: PWC Police.

DUMFRIES, VA—Two men who recently robbed area businesses at gunpoint were arrested Monday while apparently casing another business at the same shopping complex where the other robberies occurred, according to Prince William County Police.

Joshean Darnell Stokes, 18, of the 1600 block of Fort Fisher Court in Dumfries, and Michael Lorenzo Newman, 18, of no fixed address, were charged by PWC Police with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. They were charged by Dumfries Police with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Around 9:15 p.m., Dumfries Police were proactively patrolling Dumfries Shopping Plaza when they saw two suspicious men who appeared to be casing a business in the shopping center. They matched the descriptions of suspects in the robberies of Wings Guys on Dec. 14 and Metro PCS on Nov. 28.

Police from both Prince William County and Dumfries approached them then and arrested them without incident. Not only that, but they both were armed with stolen handguns. When police searched Stokes' home, they found evidence related to the robberies.
