School Closing/Delay Update for Prince William County

PWCS will remain closed Thursday 1/28 and Friday 1/29 due to remaining impassible roads and sidewalks and other weather-related travel conditions in many areas. Code Red for Employees.

SACC will not open. All Thursday and Friday activities are cancelled.

• Elementary parent-teacher conferences originally planned for Friday will be rescheduled, as needed to meet individual student needs.
  
• The February 1 due date for Specialty Program applications remains unchanged.

The school system has also announced other calendar changes, due to the winter storm.

• The Teacher work day originally scheduled for Monday, February 1, will be take place, as planned. There will be no classes for students on Monday;
• The end of the second grading period and associated distribution of report cards will be delayed by five days. This will affect delivery of transcripts to colleges; however, schools will be advised and likely understanding of the
• circumstances;
• SOL testing windows remain unchanged at this time, pending any future decision by the Virginia Department of Education;
• The celebration for teacher and principal of-the-year nominees, originally set for Thursday night is postponed to the snow date of February 23; and
• Weather-related changes through Thursday’s 2 hour delay (and including the day off for the March 1 primary election) leave PWCS with 6.5 days’ worth of hours before any risk of falling short of VA-required classroom time.
