Prince William County Police believe the shooting of a 38-year-old man early Tuesday morning was not random and are investigating a motive.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County Police continue to search for a suspect in a shooting of a 38-year-old man that they do not believe was a random act, police said.

Police were called to the Bayvue Apartments in the 1400 block of Bayside Avenue in Woodbridge at 1:38 a.m. Tuesday, when they had received a call of shots fired. The caller told police they heard gunshots prior to witnesses seeing vehicles leave the area. Officers found a 38-year-old man with gunshot wounds, police said. The man was flown to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A police K-9 unit and Fairfax County police helicopter searched the area for anyone who may have been involved. Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s violent crimes bureau are investigating what may have led to the shooting. Police said that the victim was not initially cooperative with police. Anyone with information into the shooting is asked to contact the Prince William County Police Department.
