WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Maryland man was arrested this week following a Prince William County Police investigation that revealed he allegedly sexually assaulted a young girl. Police said William Gallaway, 49, of Maryland, is now facing charges of aggravated sexual battery, sexual penetration with an object and indecent liberties following the incident.

According to police, an investigation by the Prince William County Special Victims Unit was done following a report made by a family member of the victim. Police said the assault happened in a Woodbridge residence sometime between January 2010 and December 2013, and the family member learned about it after the victim told them.

Gallaway was an acquaintance of the victim, police said. He was arrested Aug. 28 by the Howard County Police Department in Maryland. Gallaway is currently being held and awaiting extradition.
