Simply Vivid Photography: Photographing Life As It Happens

Simply Vivid Photography’s name does not begin to describe the talent of Derek Wells, owner and sole photographer of this Woodbridge based business, one that sponsors Sterling Women Manassas. Derek’s work leaps from the screen, whether the photos be in color or black and white.

“I am a professional photographer and I approach all photo sessions with a documentary style, specializing in capturing life as it happens,” says Derek, who shoots on-location. “I provide on-location photography, including but not limited to portraits and weddings, as well as special occasions in the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas.” He is also available for destination shoots and/or weddings worldwide. In addition, Derek provides sessions focused on maternity, newborn and babies, seniors, families, engagements, head-shots and boudoir.

“Photography is not only a career choice for me, but it’s also a passion of mine, and plain and simple, it’s the way my brain works.

Our everyday lives are the best description of who we are as people and as families. And they change entirely too fast,” says Derek.

Operating Manager Tianna Wells says the business began in late 2012 with Derek’s love for the camera and constant compliments on how beautiful his photos were. She says they didn’t have much knowledge of what it takes to run a photography company. Today, Simply Vivid has a small clientele base and a vast knowledge on what it will take to get the business where they’d like it to be.

What sets Simply Vivid Photography apart from other photography businesses is that the Wellses strongly believe in Derek’s talent. “Derek is a self-taught photographer who really takes great pride in what he does,” Tianna says. “He is always making sure our clients are happy. Also, having a partner who can manage literally everything that comes along with having an on-location studio allows Derek to completely focus on the artistic side of the business, when most companies have to manage it all.

“We strive to always have a completely satisfied and happy customer. We want to ensure that our clients have lasting memories at an affordable price.”

How did Simply Vivid come to be a Sterling Women Manassas sponsor? Tianna says Shateea Holmes, Director of Sterling Women Manassas, mentioned Sterling Women in Leesburg and how great of their events are. “When she told us about Sterling Women Manassas, we just knew we had to be a part of it,” says Tianna.

“As a new company, we are well aware of how much support plays a role in making a difference. We are excited to be able to network with other women and businesses and support as many as we can.”
