Stafford Motorcyclist Dies In Crash On I-95 Near Dale City: Police

A 31-year-old motorcycle rider died on Wednesday after crashing into a barrier near the Dale City exit on northbound I-95, police said.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A motorcycle rider died on I-95 near Dale City on Wednesday after crashing into a barrier, Virginia State Police Said.

Authorities have identified the rider as 31-year-old Nelson Casillas, Jr. from Stafford County. He died at the scene of the crash.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the access lanes of northbound I-95 near exit 156 for Dale City. Authorities said Casillas was riding a 2007 Honda CBR1000 RR motorcycle at a high speed before the crash.

"It cut through the gore area of the exit ramp and struck an impact attenuator," Virginia State Police said. "The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike."

Investigators said the motorcycle and debris then crashed into the back of a Hyundai SUV that was exiting the highway. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

Casillas was wearing a helmet when he crashed. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
