WOODBRIDGE, VA—A 16-year-old Gar-field High School was arrested Tuesday after he made a threat against the school on social media, according to Prince William County Police. He was charged with threats to commit harm to persons on school property and is being held at a juvenile detention facility.

On Sunday, police received word of a potential threat of violence at the school on 14000 Smoketown Road. They found that the student, in conjunction with a boy in Pennsylvania, created a threatening post and distributed it on Snap Chat.

A School Resource Officer, with help from detectives, was able to identify the student and the other boy. Police then determined the threat was not credible. The student was arrested at his home without incident.
