Student Charged For Bringing Knife To Prince William County School

Police said the incident occurred last week at a middle school in Prince William County.

DUMFRIES, VA — A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after police said he brought a knife on school property.

According to Prince William County police, officers responded to Potomac Shores Middle School in Dumfries around 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 12 after receiving a call about a student who had a knife in his possession.

School security staff took the knife from the student before police arrived and notified the school resource officer, police said.

The student did not threaten other students or staff or display the knife, authorities said.

Following the incident, police charged the student with possession of a weapon on school property. A court date is pending.
