Suspect In Dumfries Hotel Shooting, Burglary Arrested: Police

DUMFRIES, VA — Police have arrested and charged a Woodbridge man in connection with an Aug. 19 shooting at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Dumfries. Police arrested 20-year-old Leonard C. Gaskins of Woodbridge and charged him on multiple accounts, including robbery and malicious wounding.

Police are still searching for a second suspect in the shooting that happened at the hotel located at 16931 Old Stage Rd., injuring a 30-year-old Woodbridge man. Police responded to the hotel just after 11:30 a.m.

At the time, the investigation revealed the victim was involved in an altercation with two unknown males, during which he was shot in the arm. The victim later went to an area hospital where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gaskins is charged with robbery, malicious wounding, conspiracy to commit a felony, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently in jail on no bond. HIs next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 17.
