Suspect Identified, Sought In Potomac Mills Mall Shooting: Police

Authorities have identified a man who is wanted in connection with last week's shooting that injured one person at the Potomac Mills mall.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A suspect has been identified in last week's shooting that injured one person at the Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge. Police said they are looking for Jamarion Dawan Jackson, an 18-year-old from Triangle.

Jackson is charged with several crimes, including aggravated malicious wounding, destruction of property, and discharging a fiream in an occupied building.

The shooting began as a dispute between customers at the Fashion Mechanics store in the mall on Thursday afternoon. One customer, who has since been identified as Jackson, was purchasing items from the store when another person approached him.

An argument and a fight ensued, police said. During the altercation, police claimed that one of the customers pulled out a gun and fired several shots. One of the rounds hit the other customer in the leg.

The victim, who has been identified as a 22-year-old man, drove himself to the hospital, police said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

On Monday, authorities with the Prince William County Police Department identified Jackson as the suspect in the shooting. Authorities said they have been unable to locate him.

Jackson is described as a Black man with short black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. Police said he is wanted for aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in an occupied building, possession of a concealed weapon, and destruction of property.
