Suspect At Large After Abduction, Assault In Dumfries: Police

A Dumfries man is wanted after he was accused of tackling and abducting a woman on Wednesday morning, according to police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A woman was tackled and abducted on Wednesday morning in Dumfries, according to a report from the Prince William County Police Department. Michael Alexander Howard is wanted in connection with the abduction.

At 2 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of an assault in Dumfries. A victim told police that she and Howard had an argument at a residence in the 17600 block of Marsh Harbor Lane.

The argument escalated, and the victim tried to walk away from Howard, police said. Howard is accused of tackling the victim as she tried to leave, according to authorities.

Howard and the victim entered the residence and went to his room, police said. When the victim tried to leave the room, Howard hit her, pushed her onto the bed, and blocked the door to prevent her from leaving, according to the police department.

The victim was able to escape the room when another person in the house intervened. She then fled the home and ran towards a nearby shopping center, where she flagged down a police officer, authorities said. The victim reported minor injures, according to the police report.

After an investigation, officers received arrest warrants for Howard. However, initial attempts to locate him have been unsuccessful.

Howard is charged with abduction and one count of assault and battery. Police described him as a white male, about 5'9" and 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
