SUV Crashes Into Police Cruiser on Interstate 95
Trooper recovering from early-morning accident: Virginia State Police.
A Virginia State Police trooper is recovering after an out-of-control SUV slammed into his cruiser on Interstate 95 in Prince William County. The crash occurred at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of I-95.
Trooper I.J. Dallam Sr. was parked off of the left side of I-95 near mile marker 152 (where the former HOV lanes used to merge into southbound I-95) and using a radar device to monitor the speed of southbound traffic. A 2000 Ford Explorer was speeding in the southbound lanes of I-95 when the driver lost control, according to a statement from the Virginia State Police.

The SUV overturned, slid off the left side of the interstate and crashed into Dallam’s marked patrol car, the state police said.
Dallam was transported to Sentara Prince William Hospital in Woodbridge for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries. He has since been treated and released, the state police said. The crash remains under investigation.
